Oilfield Additive

Polyanionic Cellulose (PAC) For Oil Drilling

Viscosifier: PAC is used as a viscosifier in drilling fluids to increase the viscosity and yield strength, which helps to maintain the pressure and temperature during the drilling process. PAC can also help to suspend and transport cuttings out of the wellbore.

Fluid loss control: PAC is used as a fluid loss control agent to prevent the drilling fluid from invading the formation and causing damage to the wellbore. PAC can create a filter cake that seals the formation and reduces the fluid loss.

Shale stabilization: PAC is used as a shale stabilizer to prevent the swelling and dispersion of shales, which can cause wellbore instability and formation damage. PAC can create a protective coating on the shale that improves its mechanical strength and prevents the release of clay particles.

Lubricant: PAC is used as a lubricant in drilling fluids to reduce the friction between the drill string and the wellbore. PAC can also help to reduce the torque and drag during drilling operations.
