Performance With Cellulose Ether

Hydroxyethyl Cellulose (HEC)

Hydroxyethyl cellulose (HEC) is a water-soluble, non-ionic cellulose ether that is derived from natural cellulose, it’s a white to light yellowish powder that is soluble in both cold and hot water. It has a high viscosity, which makes it an effective thickening agent. HEC can also improve the texture, stability, and flow properties of products.

Appearance : White powder
PH value : 5.0-8.5
Moisture (max.) : less than 5 %
Viscosity* (mPa.s) : 300 - 100 000

  • Paints and Coatings : HEC is used as a thickener, binder, and stabilizer in water-based paints and coatings.

  • Construction : HEC is used as a water-retaining agent and thickener in cement and mortar mixtures.

  • Oil and Gas : HEC is used as a thickener and rheology modifier in drilling fluids for oil and gas exploration.
